{"id":2065,"date":"2020-01-31T20:59:32","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T20:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bta.wa.gov\/?p=2065"},"modified":"2021-02-26T00:56:13","modified_gmt":"2021-02-26T00:56:13","slug":"change-to-direct-appeal-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bta.wa.gov\/index.php\/change-to-direct-appeal-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Change to Direct Appeal Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Board will consider direct appeals that involve complex issues that require expertise beyond the County Board of Equalization\u2019s proficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Board will consider direct appeals for the purpose of consolidation <strong>only<\/strong> if the appeal currently with the BTA is already scheduled for hearing, the new appeal can be consolidated <strong>without<\/strong> re-scheduling the current hearing, <strong>and<\/strong> there is not sufficient time to allow the County Board of Equalization to hear the new appeal prior to the Board scheduled hearing.&nbsp; If there is adequate time for the County Board of Equalization to hear an appeal, allowing the parties to develop their cases prior to coming to the BTA, a request for direct appeal for the purpose of consolidation will not be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For additional information, see&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/rcw\/default.aspx?cite=84.40.038\"><strong>RCW 84.40.038(3)<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/apps.leg.wa.gov\/wac\/default.aspx?cite=458-14-171\"><strong>WAC 458-14-171<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Board will consider direct appeals that involve complex issues that require expertise beyond the County Board of Equalization\u2019s proficiency.
